This weekend marked the third annual “Project Pink” initiative for the Kyle Busch Foundation (KBF). This year we were able to donate $57,000 to Pretty In Pink Foundation to cover the medical expenses for 22 “Champions” currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer throughout North Carolina.
In addition to the financial support, the Champions were invited to attend the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday, October 10. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans and rain forced the race to be moved to Sunday, but the rain on Saturday did not dampen the spirits of our Champions. Those who were able to attend spent time with Kyle and Samantha Busch in the Mars/KBF suite, which included photos and personal gift bags from Samantha. They also had the opportunity to tour the pit and garage area despite the soggy conditions.
Some of the Champions were able to return to the track on Sunday for a beautiful race day to experience the sights and sounds of their first NASCAR event. Although Kyle did not end up in Victory Lane, it was unanimous among our Champions they had a great time at the track and it turned out to be two days they won’t soon forget.
